Little ripper
I've done 150 miles on this bike and loving how light & fast it is as an all round trail bike. It climbs like a champion, and is super fun on the downhills, if a little hair raising because it's so light it gets a bit skittish! Now I can keep up with my friends on high end Yeti's and Santa Cruz, on a bike that's half the price. Overall I'm impressed with how much performance you get for the price, full XT drivetrain, quiet & fast rolling DT Swiss hubs and rims. I've even taken it to the bike park twice - had to be a bit more careful with line choice but that just adds to the fun.
What an awesome incredible bike!
Firstly I ordered on a Wed evening and the bike arrived Friday 1pm. The assembly was easy, frankly taking off the tires & installing tire liners took 3x the assembly time. It did take me a bit to figure out to hook the cable into the seat post but easy peasy once I did. Good helpful tools provided. The quick release is weird and I'm afraid it'll fall off on a ride. I'm using & keeping the tool w/me. I was enjoying my journey climbing very moderate fire road knowing I was jamming. It climbs damn near like my road bike, very tall riding posture! Once on the ST however, is where the bike truly shines. Climbing is mostly a joy. I have a very nice 2017 27.5" rim trail bike w/160mm travel forks & frame, yet I found I'm way faster cornering and ripping the ST. The bike's so light it's acceleration amazes! You have to put your wt on the seat directly for the drop post to work but otherwise works great. It's a Godsend, because I'm BARELY tall enough for the Large model at 5'11" and wouldn't be able to descend the bike w/o it. And I shaved 15 minutes off my 2 hr loop today. Knew I was going faster but Mind Blown! Thank you truly happy & impressed & can't wait to get back out on it tomorrow!
So much capability for the money
Arrived in under a week, well packaged. Easily assembled in under an hour. Everything was included, including a torque wrench, pedal wrench, and even a set of cheap pedals in case you don't have a pair on hand. Note that the instructions are very generic. Use the torque settings printed on the bike, not in the instructions. The bike climbs like a hardtail, but it's much easier and more comfortable to maintain speed through rock gardens. I would expect to pay $5k for a carbon fiber bike with this component set. BikesOnline has a great support desk system. I already broke a part and they sent me a replacement promptly with a tracking number.
The fastest "XC" bike that I have ever ridden
I recently purchased the XF 999 TR in my quest to find the perfect bike for my particular riding style. I am an old school XC racer. Over the past few years, XC courses have become a bit more challenging. So at age 60, I find myself wanting a bit more suspension. Who knew that a 140/140 bike that is labeled as a "TRAIL" bike, would be the fastest XC bike that I have ever ridden. I have been setting course PR's like crazy. I absolutely LOVE this bike.
